Third visit to Toronto

Another day trip to toronto, just to visit you, my dearest sammy! No matther how busy i was procrastinating for finals, i sososo wanted to see you for the 最后一次, 因为下一次见面的机会也不知是什么时候了。

Luckily i don't have to travel alone again this time, 那么的巧... takashi, lawrence and jason planned to go there for a day too. So, we took bus to and back from toronto together, thanks alot guys!

见到你有让我难以用言语来表达的兴奋感，真希望Charlene也与我们在一起，像从前一样一起闹。可惜不能把你藏进我的行李箱里，带你一起来加拿大；将sammy混进澳洲，也有点困难。真是无奈...什么时候我们三人才能在一起呢？

After getting off from Dundas station, we walked ard eaton centre, chose something from Roots for greeny pupu. Hopefully she will like it.. we thought of getting it for ourselves instead, lol.

Sammy told me that there is a very nice japanese restaurant. I thought it'll come to me as a surprise... 原来是Ajisen Ramen =.= Errm, sammy...don't you remember we have Ajisen Ramen in Melbourne too?! 真不愧是三米, 败给你了，哈哈！

Anyway, it still tastes nice, i miss eating with you ^^ 就不必考虑太多嘛, lol. The camera man right... is a good guy, cute too, 考虑考虑啦！

Don't really remember where is this place, a random subway i guess. It reminds us of our time in Wrixon House, with Big W ~> Wendy!

After lunch, we went to Pacific Mall for 东东蛋卷，好好吃喔！好东西当然要打包回去金斯敦与朋友分享，因为kingston没有这一些极品!

Next, we went to T&T ~> super huge asians supermarket. Bought lots of snacks and junks... miss those food so much! Again, coz Kingston has limited stocks =P

Before going to the bus station, we had dinner in a Taiwanese restaurant 168 (一路发) ~> 甜不辣，牛肉饭和珍珠奶茶!

The punishment was to sing a song, and we gerls enjoyed it so much that the punishment has to be changed...

Jay was so confused, cant differentiate left and right, and he is the winner of the losers of the night! I will always remember how you stalked the others from the other room and sang '爱我别走' in front of them. Thanks for the entertainment and we cheered for you! I can say that you've improved as time goes by, good job!

this is the BCHM 411 discussion group. We always meet up before handing in our assignment, sometimes the night before due date =P Without you guys, i could have failed this hardcore sub, advanced molecular biology. And thanks for inviting me to this group discussion ^^ you guys are so SMART!

After the final class of the term, kiki, me, katy, fiona and hoi gathered in QUIC, a very memorable place to be, the place where we met each other, our meeting place. Didn do anything particular, just wanna chill out there ^^

We heard that egg nog is something tat you muz try in canada, so we bought one...hmmm...it's made of egg yolk i think, i only took a sip - - i'm ok with it... but fiona and kiki like it, hehe, i think...

Rossini, my biochem buddy, we had our last class together.

nah, we were playing yahoo online mahjong...so ngam we have four tops on our laps. Hoi and Kathy each won twice, me neutral, poor kiki who lost every game, lol. Thanks to fiona who helped me, you're a genius! We didn get to play more, coz my top ran out of bat, damn!

The following week, we started to cram for exam, going to library almost everyday. Eating poutine is one of our favourite lunch, especially during winter!

After library, we usually walked home together. Poor kathy and kiki who have to take a bus to go back to West Campus late at night. This is the bus stop where we usually waited for the bus. I enjoyed sending them off in the snow ^^ lol

We walked all the way to downtown to buy 'fuel'... asian store, A&P, back to asian store again. It was snowing quite heavily and the wind was very strong...took us some efforts to carry all those stuffs back. Poor jay who has forgotten his pot and has to go all the way back to his house to get it.

yo, finally i'm back in ipoh after taking 4 months of 'leave' =P It's time to take a rest i guess, eventhough i had so much fun travelling ard *Canada ~ US ~ Hong Kong ~ Japan next* plus i'm so broke. I left Kingston on the 5th and reach HK on the 6th... still have so much to tell before i can go into any detail of my trip in HK, lol. Too much has been happening in so little time...One thing for sure, i miss kingston.

Hmm, where should i start again? How about SPORTS? My current situation reminds me of that. As my friendS said, i should 'get back on track' ASAP !!!

Winter in Kingston

Winter winter...i've waited so long for snows, and it finally snows on a thursday. Hmm, should i call it 'snow'? Anyways, i was walking home with kathy and suddenly she shouted 'SNOWS!' That was the first time we saw snows falling, and i saw tears in her eyes, lol. So excited! We immediately walked to the lakeside despite the coldness...

" Homecoming 2005's Aberdeen Street party culminated a car being flippd and set on fire as thousands of people crowded onto the street" ---> that's why we have police here, everywhere...

An estimated 5000 to 6000 party-goers on saturday night

Seriously, i haven't seen this before, so amazing!!! basically, everyone was just drinking and dancing on the street, and you can see bottles flying above your head too.

We tried to walk into the crowd, but it was too crowded that in a few secs, we're separated into 3 groups. We're trying to squeeze in till the end of the street, but...omg, so hard! It took us about half an hour to 'reunite'

I had a really good weekend, despite the fact that i have a seminar on monday. More specifically, i have to give a seminar to my class for half an hour. I've heard so much about homecoming since I came to Queen's, which is a tradition of the university, welcoming back alumni of Queen's. I've even wikipedia it, lol, here's what it says: Homecoming celebrations are common accross Canada, the most well known and one of the largest being held by Queen's Universit each year. In the last few years, it has routinely turned violent and has been threatened with cancellation because of this. Wondering why the highlighted word is highlighted? You'll know as mystory develope =P

Basically, Queen's students celebrate the return of alumni by PARTYING! I don't really know how it turned out like this, but it has been a tradition for years. I guess students use it as a good (?) excuse to party throughout the whole weekend. I like it that way, ehehe ^^ The whole town was just so happening, full of drunken man...

On Friday night, we attended a karaoke event organized by a chinese society. Forget about K-box, E-box, Red-box or whatever box, it was held in a lecture theatre :0 Anyway, i found it quite interesting, an unique way of singing k. Afterall, who says that lecture theatre is specially designed for lectures? It has better use ^^ Oh, forgot to mention about the owner of the laptop, where did you download all those MVs from? 你绝不输给K-box, lol. And we get to pick new songs which were not listed, as they were ppl out there downloading those songs on the spot for you!

So, we decided to go to Queen's Club, Alfie. Yes, we have a clubbing spot in the uni which is FOC! I was starving by that time, so i chose not drink in the club, no fun! Plus, there weren't many ppl inside as the security guards dislike crowd, i assume. Plus the music wasn't tat great tat night. In the end, we went to another club in downtown, Elixir, better club ^^ Before that, we had supper in Tea House, so that i can drink!

On Saturday morning, we went to watch the football game of Golden Gaels (Queen's) vs Waterloo Warriors, a must-watch game during homecoming.

Guys and gerls entered the stadium separately, as they have to check our bags and body. Water bottles are confiscated too.

Finally, parade of the alumni! Can you see the banner written with 'Science 47'? Let me count, 2007-1947=60. Imagine how old these ppl are, and they still made an effort to come back every year. I doubted if i will do the same. We cheered for their spirits and i saluted them. The youngsters were just so excited and, all of a sudden, those engineering students speeded to the centre of the field and started to slam their 300 bucks leather jackets on the groud, which created cloud of dusts. Erm, this is the tradition of the engineering students too.

While the marching band and cheerleaders were performing 'seriously', mad ppl ran through them. Confusing but funny scene ^^

We couldn't stand the cold anymore, so we left before the game ended. I think the score was 45-0. We won, lol

Resting in Jean Royc Hall. Thank you for the hot chocolate and noodles. They were just too perfect to keep us warm ^^

Enough of resting...next, we went to Aaron's house for Wii, brought by his fren from Toronto. This was my 1st time playing it and it was soso fun! We had a battle between 2 teams, playing various kind of games: ping pong, tennis, shooting, boxing, etc. It was really funny watching ur frens playing, with all those diff kinds of actions and expressions. I recorded some videos ^^ which can keep me accompanied when i'm feelin...down? LOL

The funniest game ever, boxing! very tiring though...

At night, we went to the lakeside and enjoyed the fireworks. So pretty!!! I luv fireworks ^^

Ottawa

I've waited this day for long, the 11th of October, since i reached Canada. Finally, i was off to Ottawa to get my US visa done ^^ I skipped all my Thursday classes because of this, hehe, good excuse. The bus departed from Kingston at 7am and arrived at Ottawa ard 9.45am, i slept for the whole 3hrs. I feel kind of anxious when i reached the US embassy, haha, dont know why...There were some very troublesome procedures that i have to went through before i can get in = = I can't bring my bag in, and they don' have a place to store it. So, i randomly went into a coffee shop to try my luck, but nono~~ the police had warned every single one of them not to keep our belongings, damn it! In the end, i found out that i can leave my bag in a shopping complex, Rideau Centre, and went back to the embassy just in time. Should i say that i'm lucky? When i finally walked in safely, i waited 2 hrs for the 5 mins interview, and the officer was not very friendly. He was NOT intended to approve my application until i told him that i'm the premanent resident of australia. Anyway, he was nice enough to give me the visa, yay!!!

We had a long weekend 2 weeks ago because of Thanksgiving, so 5 of us decided to travel to Montreal!!! Let me start off by introducing the characters ^^

After leaving our stuffs in the hostel, our 1st mission was to look for the underground city. BUT, where the hxxx was that? We asked so many ppl and everyone was pointing at different directions. I believed that they have many entrances and yes, we did went to the underground. I assume that we've already been to the city lying underground =.= By the time we reached there, all the shops were already closed, so we window shopped and made a list of 'potentials' in our minds ^^

Highlight of the night. I saw so many 'interesting' people outside the bar. But we didn't go into this hardcore Mado club, we went to a milder one instead, haha. I've never seen so many guys in a club before, and they were dancing hot too =P

It was the 30th of September... after our volleyball game, we walked Fiona all the way back to West Campus, bcoz... It was her birthday on the 1st!!! We count down on Union Street, singing her a happy birthday song ^^

The International Centre organized a trip to Niagara Falls. Basically, everyone went! This is a must-do thing in canada, juz to take a glimpse of the massive falls, but ofcoz we took more than juz a glimpse =P

Hoi's birthday!

It was Hoi's birthday last Friday, so three of us *Kiki, Kathy & me* went to downtown and had a cake hunt. There were not many choices, and this is the best we can get => ice cream cake from Dairy Queen!!! Juz because we wanna make it as a surprise for him, we walked all the way to the restaurant and hide it there. It was raining quite heavily + we're carrying laptops and books. We didn know that Silver Wok is that far, which is located in the area that we normally go by bus. One word to decribe, TIRING! But it was worth it, for friend's birthday ma~~ hehe

Mid-Autumn Festival!!!

Yohoo ~ ~ the moon is finally as round as mooncake, and as yellow as egg yolk => yummy! We had potluck in Harkness Hall. It was planned a week ahead coz everyone was just too excited about mid-autumn... Started off by making dumplings ^^

First experience of making dumpling, thanks to Fiona who taught us how to wrap it, it was so fun! We do look like experts, ahahahah!

See how cute my dumplings are, hehe, not bad right? It took us 2 hrs to make 60 of them - - "

The second dish that we made was eggs + sausages + mixed veggies, very nice colour combination, and very creative too :)

Serious men => waimun cooking 'bak kut teh', while Hoi was demonstrating to us how to fry dumplings. He was done with his curry by then.

Yuu => busy with his stuffed pepper. Hmm, you should make sushi instead, lol. But the stuffed pepper taste good too ^^ The only western food was mashed potato...

We're done with the fried dumplings!

Don't talk while you cook Jack, haha. Yea, tat was fried rice. Taste good too, good job!

Finally...heres the result => more than 10 different kinds of homemade food!!! Curry + roti, fried + boiled dumplings, stuffed pepper, bak kut teh, mashed potato, rice cakes, sze chuan spicy soup, sago, pancake, chicken wings, fried veggies, fried rice and mooncakes! Everyone has the potential to work in 5 stars restaurant la~~

Tradition before eating => family photo. We looked a bit tired though coz of the hardwork and efford we put in, but i see satisfaction and excitement, hehe

Life after uni started is busy, taking 5 hardcore subjects including 1 seminar, where 11 of us take turns to give a seminar individually for half an hour + research papers. Sounds like i'm doin honour yea, but i guess the most suffering part is when i need to sit there for 3 hrs straight, after 3 hrs of early classes =( Everyone is in their final year, except me the intruder. I'll just try my best and enjoy the new experience + dumbness, lol. *Students here are really really really punctual, seriously*

Some exciting news here!!! I joined the badminton club, only $20 for the whole year, woohoo~~~ every thurs and sun, never miss one so far ^^ There are some really good players here, and i met many new ppl who luv badminton too! btw, they called shuttlecock 'birdy' instead of shuttlecock - -" Next comes volleyball. Please dont imagine me playing this 'abusive' game, i can't play. Apparently Hoi is really good in volleyball, so he formed a team named 'Toro Rangers' and the rangers are Hoi, Jay, Jack, Yuu, Pei, Fiona, Kiki, Kathy and me. With almost half of us being new to this game, we did quite well in the first game against 'Superbad', we manage to score 17 vs 25. Not bad right? I really enjoy this game and we did entertained ourselves during the game ^^ Looking forward to the next game...There are other clubs that i 'sort of'' joined, chinese, jap, hk, south east asian club, and attended some events, like KARAOKE NIGHT!!! I'll let you know how was the karaoke when i get back =P Enough of typing la~~ here are some photos taken : D

This was my first time watching hockey game. To my amaze, it is more speedy than i expected. The puck was like zoom zoom zoom, you need to be really fast in taking a glimpse of the puck. I wish i can skate like them, so envy la~~~ tai shuai le!

While they were fighting for the puck with the hockey stick, they look as if they were mopping the floor, i found it very farny => no offence. It was a very dangerous game though, the players keep banging into the wall and into each other. Other than bang, what i heard was BANG! BANG! BANG!

After reaching there, we took a hay-wagon ride to the corn maze for activities and bbq dinner...

We met many groups on the way, and we fooled them by giving the wrong directions ^^ 'Hey, come back here!' i heard somebody said, but we're no where sighted... BUT, someone took revenge, a guy just jumped out from no where and scared us till death!!! Arrggg....

Finally we're half way to the Oasis, yeah!

The sky turned dark, and we're still finding our way out. No more fooling around, and we worked together instead, but to no avail...We were trapped in the maze for 2+ hours and were finally saved by the owner =P

We took a ride back to the 'lakeport'. Everyone was tired but still excited i guess...I saw the moon rising, so big and so round, so happy!

Orientation week...

Finally, it's orientation week!!! I was quite shocked seeing so many international students, many of them are exchange studets too! * i thought not many ppl will exchange to Queen's, oopsss...* We began the session by introducing the person sitting behind you. I introduced Joyce from Hong Kong and was introduced by Martin from Germany. Everyone got a chance to speak over the mic, they were just so 'humerous' and fun and friendly... The staffs from the international centre QUIC are very nice ppl too, special thanks to Edward who helped me alot in finding accomodaion.

Many students are from Germany,Portugal, France, Sweden, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Lebanon, India, Singapore...but none from Malaysia or Melbourne. I wonder why...

After campus tour, we had night games. You can choose either soccer or (ultimate) frisbee. Ofcoz...no soccer for me! The frisbee game is a little different from normal, this is an untimate one!!! It's not just about throwing the disk, it's about teamwork, with no referee but self-discipline and fun!!! We were separated into 2 teams, 7 vs 7...

The aim of the game is to throw the disk to the D zone (or N zone? or...) of the opposite side. You have to stay where you are when the disk is in your hand, and throw it to your team member...Anyway, i didn know that such a simple game needs profession too! This is my 1st experience of frisbee and i had real fun ^^

The next day, we had a walk downtown and ride to Wolfe Island on the ferry..

It was raining on that Saturday. Thanks to the rain, i've met my first 4 friends in Kingston. They are from Hong Kong, really nice and friendly people...

Journey from Toronto to Kingston was quite memorable -.- abit scary. I've never taken such a small plane before, with only 20 passengers including 2 pilots! Plany shaked till my heart was gonna jump out, but the view from the plane was very nice though...
*if you happen to visit Kingston one day, my advice is to take the coach =)

I reached Jean Royce Hall at 6pm, 24/8, where I stayed there for 6 days before moving out to a permanent accomodation. For the first night in Kingston, i was all alone by myself, donno where to get dinner, where to go and what to do. But i enjoy the 'donno' period =P In the end, i decided to walk to the campus which took me quite a while to reach there during the night. I must learn how to find my way now...on my own...

Kingston is a quiet small town, located by the Lake Ontario and was the first capital of Canada. It is named 'Limestone City' because of the many historic buildings built from Limestone.

I really like walking in the neighbourhood of Kingston, those houses are just too pretty and cute...

Dream house...

Basically what i did for the first few days were just walking around exploring Kingston, and most importantly looking for accomodation. I get really tanned because of this, walking back and forth from the residense to visit the houses a few times in a day, talking to strangers on the phone, tiring but rewarding...i finally found a nice place after 4 days =D

As for China Town, you're usually advice not to go there...and i miss the China Town in Melbourne!!! Korean Town is further down the street, but we're too lazy to walk there la~~

There are still many places out there in Toronto which i haven't explored coz of limited time, i guess i'll visit you again somedays in the future ^^ Heres something i found out about Toronto ~ a very diverse city, with about half of the population born outside of Canada, a very popular destination for immigrants. Thank you for giving me such a memorable trip.

Let me continue the story of that gerl...
I stepped on the land of Toronto on 21th August, 6.15pm sharp. Sammy, Tonik (her brother) and 2 of their cousins were already there waiting for me. Pinky PUPU, i was sosososo happy to see you!!! Can't believe that we didn see each other for more than a year already, you still look like my old Sammy, lol. **history=we were living in the same boarding house in Year 12 then she migrate to Canada, good fren of mine and we've gone through alot together, with Charlene...one of the reason why i chose canada for exchange =P **
Thank you for offering me a place to stay in Toronto, it was really fun living with another 11 people in a house. Such a large family with 8 kids!!! you can imagine how 'meriah' it can be! The next morning, we headed to the gigantic shopping mall, EATON CENTRE!!! by 'subway'...

Uncle Joseph brought the whole family to a Japanese Restaurant. Thanks heapsss and i luv the food!!! I learnt something from this humorous man too, BMW = Big Mouth Woman =.= Just then, Sammy told me this, MLC = Men Last Choice, the high school we went to in Melbourne...speechless...

Actually, juz before we went out for dinner, we realised that all the fishes in the house were dead. The kids were sad, refused to eat the sashimi, so only 3 pieces of sashimi were eaten by Tonik in the end. When we got home, i saw grandma doing CPR to the fish!!! It works, but then the fishes were found dead AGAIN in the morning...

Thank you for all the farewells, prezzies, cards, letters and wishes...they worth more than anything to me!!! I brought along all those cards and letters with me, which kept me away from boredom in the airport for 20+ hours =D really xie xie much much, i'm very touched...

Left Melbourne on the 16th of August and spend the following 4 days with my parents in IPOH. Long time no back! Ipoh looks abit different though, there are more buildings now, like Tesco Extra (not much difference from Tesco =.=), more traffic jam cz of highway construction, more shops and houses, but i guess the number of caves is still the same, hehe. The most important one is ofcoz FOOD!!! wonton noodle, rojak, char kueh teow, zhu cheong fun, gai choi, durian, mangosteen, mooncake, lai liu har +++ Ooopsss...growing horizontally, but who cares?

My next stop comes Canada!!! Finally, i'm off to exchange after all those hardwork throughout the semester. Excited and sad at the same time, feeling very 'rojak'. I'll miss all those fun time with my friends in melb, CMG events, support friends in TSA K-comp, celebrate Merdeka with Malaysians in Melbourne, Royal Melboure Show where i had so much fun last year, mooncake festival and friends' birthday...but i guess i'll need to learn how to sacrifice in order to gain something in return, return which i've been dreaming of, and i believe that everything is worth it.

Journey to Toronto was the longest i've ever had, plus this is the first time i'm flying alone. No scare no worry, coz i don't know how to. No tears no pain, coz i forgot. <= nonsense la~~ BECAUSE i have a red bible in my hand, thanks to tsuann, natasha, buddy, alan, de, cheng min, kerri, yi hui, wei sung, ken, lin sin, sheryl, lily, sean, sharon, damien, jackS, wei chi, jie yi, carmen, jing harn, wei yuen, keat mei, jerome, huey koon, desmond and chandra. I'll make use of the 'License To Flirt' too =P

It took 4 hours to reach Hong Kong, where i transit to Toronto, which took another 19 hours! OMG, can't believe that i actually survived. I was sitting between 2 hk gerls. Chat with them sometimes. I think the best thing i've done on board beside sleeping was watching the movie 'Next'. Nice action movie. Just before landing, we were offered breakfast. But i didn't eat much, was planning to have my dinner in Toronto instead, hehe. Overall, my journey to Toronto was one flight follow wind =)
